Ogun State accelerates DJ Chicken prosecution after repeated crashes raise public safety concerns, directing prompt arraignment for the Sagamu incident

The Ogun State Ministry of Justice has announced an expedited DJ Chicken prosecution following a string of road traffic incidents involving TikTok content creator Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, which have heightened public safety concerns.

The decision stems from the crash of November 1, 2025 in Sagamu, where Abiodun rammed into two motorcycles, leaving a rider and a female passenger seriously injured.

According to eyewitness accounts, he allegedly attempted to flee the scene before being restrained by passersby.

The Ogun State Government disclosed the development in a statement released on its official X handle on Monday.

The release noted that while civil compensation may suffice in some traffic collisions, certain reckless drivers pose a unique danger to the public.

It described Abiodun as one such individual, pointing out that at least two of his recent crashes were captured on video and require no further explanation.

The ministry stressed that Abiodun’s swift return to driving just three weeks after the Sagamu incident, “with no greater care,” made state intervention unavoidable, especially amid rising public outcry.

The statement further revealed that DJ Chicken was involved in another crash on November 23, 2025 in Lekki, Lagos State.

The lone-car incident narrowly missed injuring pedestrians, who escaped harm only through quick reflexes and good fortune.

To ensure accountability, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN, has directed ministry officials to prioritise the Sagamu crash file for prompt arraignment.

The ministry confirmed that it is working closely with the police to ensure the matter proceeds swiftly through the justice system.

It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting road users, stating that reckless driving that endangers the public will not be treated lightly.
