LTV General Manager sack sparks controversy as workers accuse former management of welfare failures and mismanagement

Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reportedly removed the General Manager of Lagos Television, Adesola Ibironke Kosoko, amid mounting complaints from workers over alleged poor welfare conditions, leadership crisis and financial mismanagement at the station.

Multiple insider sources disclosed that the decision was communicated to management and staff on Monday, May 4, 2026, although the Lagos State Government had yet to issue an official statement confirming the development as of Friday.

The reported LTV General Manager sack has created uncertainty within the state-owned broadcaster, with no replacement officially announced at the time of filing this report.

Kosoko was appointed substantive General Manager of LTV on August 8, 2023, after previously serving as Director of Content Control and Operations. Before her appointment, she reportedly spent more than 25 years in the broadcasting sector.

Several staff members described the decision as long overdue, alleging that operations and staff welfare deteriorated significantly during her administration.

“She has been removed by the governor since Monday and has been moving around lobbying politicians and influential persons to reverse the decision,” one insider alleged.

Another source claimed that workers experienced irregular salary payments and worsening operational conditions despite funds allegedly released by the state government.

“There was no staff welfare. Operational vehicles were broken down and the few repaired were allegedly handled through her husband’s mechanic workshop,” the source claimed.

Employees also alleged that the station suffered severe technical setbacks under the former management.

“As a television station, we don’t even have drones or functional Outside Broadcast vans. For outside broadcasts, we sometimes rely on mobile phones,” another worker alleged.

Staff members further claimed that parts of the office infrastructure, including furniture and computer systems, deteriorated during Kosoko’s tenure.

Sources additionally questioned the implementation of a solar power project at the station, alleging that the system became unreliable shortly after installation.

The controversy surrounding the LTV General Manager sack deepened following allegations involving commercial partnerships and the leasing of sections of the station premises.

According to insiders, presenters involved in a BetNaija barter arrangement were allegedly underpaid compared to agreed compensation terms.

Some workers also alleged that sections of the LTV premises were leased to churches without proper accountability for revenue generated from the arrangement.

A source further claimed that Governor Sanwo-Olu had previously confronted Kosoko over reports concerning the management of the station and alleged leasing of state property.

Workers have now called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to investigate the administration and financial dealings linked to the former management.

“We dare the EFCC to probe her tenure and some of the companies linked to her administration,” one employee alleged.

Some workers also warned that attempts to reverse the decision could trigger protests within the station.

Efforts to obtain official reactions from Kosoko and the Lagos State Government were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
