Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr moves to New York as part of her plan to strengthen and expand her international music career.

The 23-year-old award-winning singer revealed that she has been living in the American city for nearly two months, citing both professional opportunities and personal comfort as key reasons for the move.

In a recent video interview, Ayra Starr explained that New York’s vibrant cultural scene offers an ideal environment for creativity, collaborations, and exposure to global audiences.

She also drew parallels between the fast-paced energy of New York and her hometown of Lagos, saying the similar rhythm of the two cities made her feel instantly at home.

“New York reminds me so much of Lagos, so it feels like home,” she said. “There are a lot of Nigerians here. There’s a huge African diaspora here, so I feel comfortable and welcomed.”

The singer, who continues to gain international acclaim, believes that living in New York will allow her to work with top global producers and participate in more international music events.

Fans have celebrated her bold move, viewing it as a strategic step toward reaching new heights in her career.
