OPay wins SERAS Award for strong social impact

OPay wins the SERAS 2025 Award for social impact, recognising its scholarship, women’s empowerment, and educational initiatives across Nigeria

OPay has been recognised for its expanding corporate social responsibility efforts after winning the SERAS 2025 Award for Social Impact and Human Capacity Development at the 19th edition of the ceremony held in Lagos.

The SERAS Awards, regarded as one of Africa’s most respected CSR platforms, honour organisations making measurable contributions to their communities.

The 2025 edition brought together leading brands and development-focused institutions committed to social transformation across the continent.

Receiving the award on behalf of the company, OPay’s CSR Manager, Itoro Udo, thanked the organisers and dedicated the honour to the beneficiaries of the firm’s community programmes.

“We are truly honoured by this recognition and sincerely thank the SERAS organisers for this award,” he said.

“This achievement is for the students benefiting from our N1.2bn 10-Year Scholarship Programme, the women trained through our skills programmes, and the primary school children who received essential school supplies. These individuals inspire us every day.”

OPay’s Chief Commercial Officer, Elizabeth Wang, said the award reflects the company’s commitment to improving lives through sustained community investment.

“This award reflects our unwavering commitment to deepening our community impact,” she said.

“Real progress happens when people are given the opportunity to thrive. We dedicate this honour to everyone whose lives we have touched and continue to empower.”

OPay’s initiatives include the Empowering Futures Scholarship Programme, women’s skill-building projects, and the distribution of educational materials to pupils.

These efforts, the company said, highlight its commitment to human capacity development and long-term social upliftment.

The recognition strengthens OPay’s growing reputation as a leader in corporate citizenship, demonstrating how technology and impact-driven programmes can support sustainable change in Nigeria and across Africa.

Established in 2018, OPay provides financial services designed to promote inclusion through technology.

The company offers money transfers, bill payments, card services, airtime and data purchase, and merchant payments.
