Maureen Tamuno handed the fire truck to the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service during a ceremony in Abuja, where she said the intervention reflects Abuja Investments Company Limited’s commitment to protecting traders, businesses and property in one of the capital’s busiest commercial centres.

She said the new truck will improve response time and help prevent the destructive fires that have left traders counting losses in recent years.

Maureen Tamuno said the investment supports confidence, business continuity and long-term resilience in Wuse Market.

She added that Abuja Investments Company Limited will continue to work with the Federal Capital Territory Administration, market leaders and emergency agencies to strengthen infrastructure that protects livelihoods.

She praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike CON, for supporting projects that improve safety and economic stability across the territory.

She said his leadership has enabled interventions that reinforce Abuja’s preparedness and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

The commissioning also featured the launch of the Wuse Market 1MW solar interconnected minigrid, a project designed to deliver clean and reliable electricity for traders.

The initiative aims to reduce dependence on generators and improve productivity, creating a more stable commercial environment.

Director of the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service, Engr Adebayo Amiola, described the fire truck as a powerful asset that will strengthen coordination, accelerate response and improve prevention efforts.

He said the agency will step up inspections and training to help traders identify hazards early.

Chairman of the Wuse Market Traders Association, Raphael Okorie, Managing Director of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, Engr Chijioke Okwokenje, and Managing Director of GVE Projects Limited, Ifeanyi Orajaka, commended Abuja Investments Company Limited and the Federal Capital Territory Administration.

They said the initiatives offer significant relief and mark a transformative step toward safer and more efficient market operations.
