Luno partners with AltSchool Africa to deliver free crypto education to 15,000 Nigerians, promoting financial literacy and responsible digital economy participation

Luno, the global cryptocurrency platform founded in Africa, has partnered with AltSchool Africa, an accredited online learning provider, to deliver fully funded crypto education to 15,000 Nigerian residents.

The initiative, titled Demystifying Crypto for Africans, is being billed as the largest crypto education programme on the continent.

It aims to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills to engage safely and confidently with digital assets.

Chief Executive Officer of Luno Nigeria, Ayotunde Alabi, said the programme is a timely intervention for Africa’s rapidly growing digital finance ecosystem.

“As crypto adoption accelerates, formal literacy must grow alongside it so individuals can benefit safely and meaningfully,” he said.

“Our partnership with AltSchool Africa ensures that Nigerians can participate confidently and sustainably in the digital economy, turning what is often seen as a risk into a real economic opportunity.”

Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of AltSchool Africa, Adewale Yusuf, described the programme as an investment in financial empowerment.

“This initiative provides Nigerians with the knowledge and tools to understand cryptocurrency with confidence and apply it in practical, life-changing ways,” he said.

“It is more than a course; it is a step toward building a digitally literate and economically empowered population.”

The course is designed for beginners and will be delivered in three cohorts of 5,000 learners each.

Cohort one begins in March 2026, following applications from January to February, with subsequent cohorts scheduled for July and November.

Eligible participants must be Nigerian residents aged 18 and above and must either have or create a Luno account before enrolment.

The curriculum spans five core modules and can be completed within three to four weeks.

Learners will have up to one year of access to course materials, including video lessons, quizzes, case studies, and practical interaction with cryptocurrency wallets, exchanges, stablecoins, and blockchain research tools such as CoinGecko and Etherscan.

Successful participants will earn an AltSchool Africa Certificate of Completion.

Web3 expert Abdulsamad Tiamiyu, who is leading the programme, explained that it combines theory with hands-on experience to prepare learners to apply cryptocurrency in everyday financial activities, including savings, remittances, global trading, and entrepreneurship.

With approximately one-third of Nigeria’s population already engaged with digital assets, the programme seeks to close a significant knowledge gap and promote safer participation in crypto markets.

By providing structured education and practical guidance, the Luno–AltSchool Africa partnership aims to foster a responsible and well-informed digital economy.
