APC initiates reconciliation process to unite members following Bola Oyebamiji’s emergence as 2026 governorship candidate
The All Progressives Congress has launched a reconciliation process to forestall internal disputes following the emergence of former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2026 election.

In a statement, the state APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, said arrangements had been finalised to engage members who may feel aggrieved by the outcome of the party’s consensus primary.
Lawal explained that an unforeseen official working visit to Abuja had delayed the commencement of the reconciliation efforts, which are now set to proceed under the guidance of the State Working Committee.
“Further reconciliation meetings with anyone who may be aggrieved over the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji as the governorship candidate of the party will be handled by the State Working Committee,” Lawal said.
He emphasised that the process would be managed by the party’s state leadership and not by any individual member, underlining the collective nature of the initiative.
The chairman commended delegates for their peaceful conduct during the successful consensus governorship primary held in Osogbo last Saturday, chaired by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo.
Lawal highlighted that the strength of the party lay in the unity of its members, which he said had contributed to numerous successes despite the APC currently being in opposition in the state.

He urged party members to remain committed within constitutional limits to ensure victory over the state Governor, Ademola Adeleke, in the Bola Ige House through the upcoming polls on 8 August 2026.
