DHS said migrants who register to self-deport through the CBP Home app before year-end will receive $3,000.

Participants will also get a free flight to their home country, fully arranged by the US government.

DHS added that eligible migrants would receive forgiveness of civil fines and penalties linked to overstaying.

According to the department, about 1.9 million undocumented migrants have voluntarily left the US since January 2025.

Tens of thousands reportedly used the CBP Home programme during that period.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem described the offer as a seasonal increase.

“Since January 2025, 1.9 million illegal aliens have self-deported,” Noem said.

She said the incentive was tripled for the Christmas season and would expire at year-end.

“Illegal aliens should take advantage of this gift and self-deport,” Noem warned.

She added that those who refuse face arrest, deportation, and permanent re-entry bans.

The initiative, known as Project Homecoming, began in May 2025 under a proclamation by President Donald Trump.

DHS initially offered $1,000 and a free flight to voluntary participants.

Funding comes from $250 million originally set aside for refugee resettlement.

DHS said the CBP Home app process is free, fast, and fully government-funded.
