The agency said the milestone makes Behind the Scenes the first Nollywood production to cross the ₦2 billion mark at the domestic box office, describing the achievement as a historic breakthrough for the Nigerian film industry.

In a statement shared on X, the National Orientation Agency noted that the film’s commercial reach extended beyond Nigeria, recording earnings of over $111,256 in Canada and $190,249 across North America.

According to the agency, the strong international showing highlights the growing global appeal of Nigerian storytelling and the expanding footprint of Nollywood productions abroad.

The National Orientation Agency added that the film’s performance has established Behind the Scenes as the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time in Africa, the United Kingdom and Ireland, while also making Akindele the first filmmaker to lead the African box office for three consecutive years.

The agency described the achievement as a powerful affirmation of consistency, audience trust and creative discipline, noting that Akindele has continued to redefine commercial success in African cinema.
