Ceeza Milli jail experience reveals how time in prison triggered depression, health struggles and reshaped the Nigerian singer’s outlook on life

Nigerian singer and songwriter Ifiok Effanga, popularly known as Ceeza Milli, has revealed that he spent time in a Nigerian prison, an experience he said left a lasting psychological impact on his life and career.

Speaking in Lagos during a recent interview on Yanga FM, Ceeza Milli disclosed that the imprisonment plunged him into a depressive phase, although he declined to reveal the circumstances that led to his incarceration.

The artist said the ordeal took a serious toll on his mental and physical wellbeing, adding that he is still in the process of fully recovering.

Ceeza Milli explained that recent changes in his appearance, including visible weight loss, were motivated by health concerns rather than pressure from online criticism.

He said public opinion and social media trolls no longer affect him, describing his focus as firmly centred on healing and personal growth.

Reflecting on his career, the singer expressed appreciation to Grammy-winning artist Ayodeji Balogun, professionally known as Wizkid, for supporting him at a crucial stage.

Ceeza Milli said Wizkid’s collaborations helped stabilise his finances and provided vital exposure, even though contractual obligations at the time limited further opportunities.
