Rivers State backs Tinubu 2027 as Wike inaugurates Renewed Hope Ambassadors to drive nationwide political support

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that Rivers State is spearheading nationwide support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The statement was made during the inauguration of senatorial and local government coordinators for the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Port Harcourt on Friday.

The event, aimed at boosting Tinubu’s administration ahead of the 2027 general elections, drew a cross-party turnout including leaders from both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike emphasised Rivers State’s leading role in political mobilisation, stating: “Support is not by mouth; we have shown commitment with action.

I know after today, other states may inaugurate their own structures, but Rivers State will always lead the way.”

He confirmed that political activities for the upcoming elections have officially commenced, with ward-level inaugurations of the ambassadors planned to follow.

Wike challenged the state governor’s alignment with Tinubu, noting that political reward comes from commitment rather than financial contributions.

“You don’t need N600 billion, all you need is commitment. That is what brings reward, even if it brings envy,” he said.

Describing the inauguration as a “rainbow coalition” effort, Wike thanked President Tinubu for supporting the coalition in producing candidates for the February 21 by-elections in Khana Constituency II and Ahoada West Constituency II.

He urged voters to participate en masse, regardless of party affiliation.

Rivers State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Desmond Akawor, expressed gratitude to supporters from both PDP and APC for demonstrating their backing of the President.

Speaking on behalf of federal government appointees, George Sekibo assured Tinubu of Rivers State’s continued support, citing the President’s unprecedented developmental projects and appointments of Rivers indigenes.

Other political figures, including Minority Leader of the House of Representatives Kingsley Chinda, Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker Martins Amaewhule, and former PDP state chairman Felix Obuah, reaffirmed their support for Tinubu’s re-election.

State party chairmen Aaron Chukwuemeka (PDP) and Tony Okocha (APC) also confirmed full mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

The inauguration signals Rivers State’s strategic positioning as a model for nationwide political mobilisation for President Tinubu’s 2027 campaign.
