Layi Abdoye, District Governor-elect of Rotary International District 9112, announced that the seminar is a mandatory leadership programme for district officers preparing to serve in the 2026 to 2027 Rotary year.

Layi Abdoye said the District Team Learning Seminar remains central to Rotary’s leadership development framework, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to capacity building, knowledge sharing and service excellence across its global network.

John Momoh is expected to address more than 200 Rotary leaders on the topic, “How the media can influence purposeful and ethical leadership,” a theme aligned with Rotary’s principle of Service Above Self.

John Momoh, a Paul Harris Fellow with nearly five decades in broadcast journalism, co-founded Channels Television in 1995 with Sola Momoh.

Under John Momoh’s leadership, the station has grown into one of Nigeria’s most trusted independent news networks and a respected broadcaster across Africa, winning Best TV Station of the Year 16 times.

Channels Television has received multiple honours from the Association for International Broadcasting and became the first Nigerian television station nominated at the International Emmy Awards for its role in the International Children’s Day of Broadcasting.

John Momoh was conferred with the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger and the National Productivity Order of Merit in 2005.

John Momoh has also received lifetime achievement recognitions from professional and academic bodies and was the first private sector broadcaster elected Chairman of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria.

John Momoh currently serves as President of the Chevening Alumni Association of Nigeria and sits on the boards of several civic and educational organisations, including Junior Achievement Nigeria, supporting youth development and mentorship.

Rotary District 9112, covering parts of Lagos and Ogun states, continues to strengthen leadership culture through structured learning and community-driven service initiatives.
