In a viral video, Phyna criticised existing marital laws, arguing that women should enjoy the same freedoms as men, who are legally allowed to marry more than one wife under certain systems.
“The only thing I want now is that they should just change the law,” Phyna said. “Why should women be restricted to one husband when men can marry plenty wives?”
The reality TV star added that she would marry up to five men if legally permitted, treating them equally in lifestyle and possessions.
Using humour to make her point, she suggested buying a Sprinter bus instead of a regular family car to accommodate her multiple husbands.
“I go marry like five men. You dey whine? I go buy the same clothes for all of them. The five of them will enjoy the same lifestyle,” she said.
Phyna also referenced communities in other parts of the world, such as India, where polyandry exists, arguing that Nigeria could explore similar systems if women desire.
Describing herself as ready to become a polygamous woman, Phyna called on women to be bold and united in advocating for laws that promote equality in marriage.
