Three killed as Scania truck loses brakes at Sango-Ota tollgate; Ogun warns on vehicle safety
A tragic road accident occurred at Sango-Ota tollgate along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Wednesday, claiming the lives of three commuters.

According to authorities, a Scania truck carrying wood, with number plate GGE 681 XD, reportedly lost its brakes while descending the Dalemo slope toward the tollgate from Sango, inbound Lagos. The vehicle crushed the commuters waiting at a bus stop before colliding with an empty truck registered as SMK 795 YF.
Babatunde Akinbiyi, Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), confirmed the incident, noting that the victims included two males and one female. Their remains have been deposited at the General Hospital, Ifo morgue.
Rescue operations were carried out by TRACE, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Police. Traffic disruption was quickly resolved following the evacuation.

Akinbiyi urged owners and drivers of articulated vehicles to ensure their vehicles are in proper working condition before embarking on any journey to prevent similar accidents.
