2Baba calls comparing Fela Kuti with Wizkid “ridiculous and disrespectful,” urging respect for both legends’ unique contributions
Veteran Nigerian musician 2Baba has described comparisons between Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti and contemporary star Wizkid as “ridiculous and disrespectful.”

Speaking on the Mic On podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaoye, 2Baba acknowledged Wizkid’s achievements but stressed it is unfair to measure him against Fela, whose influence on Nigerian music and global Afrobeat is unmatched.
“It is ridiculous and disrespectful to compare Fela with Wizkid. Also, it is unfair to Wizkid to compare him with Fela,” 2Baba said.
The ongoing debate has engaged Fela’s family, including Seun Kuti, Yeni Kuti, and Femi Kuti, alongside fans of Wizkid and the broader Nigerian music community.
