Yobe Student Bullying Death: SS3 student dies in Potiskum after alleged bullying; police launch investigation to determine circumstances
A senior Secondary School (SS3) student of the Government Science and Technical College, Potiskum, Yobe State, has reportedly died following an alleged bullying incident by fellow pupils on Sunday, February 9, 2026.

The victim, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, was said to have been buried the same day in his hometown of Gadaka, Fika Local Government Area, raising concerns among residents and the school community.
SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Yobe State Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident, stating that the police had commenced an investigation to determine the cause of the student’s death.
He said, “Yes, we are aware of the incident. Investigation is currently ongoing to ascertain what led to the death of the student.”
A teacher at the college, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that some students suspected to be involved in the attack had been handed over to law enforcement, while the inquiry continues.
Prof. Abba Idriss Adam, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in Yobe, acknowledged the incident but had yet to provide further comments as of press time.
