Cubana Chiefpriest blasts Isaac Fayose over Igbo comment, brags about wealth

Cubana Chiefpriest Isaac Fayose clash erupts as the nightlife entrepreneur defends his political alignment and boasts that his shoes equal Fayose’s net worth

Popular nightlife entrepreneur, Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chiefpriest, has fired back at businessman Isaac Fayose following a viral video criticising Igbo elites aligned with the current administration.

Fayose, in a video posted on Tuesday, February 10, accused some prominent Igbo businessmen of abandoning the struggle for the release of detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, in favour of political alliances and personal benefits.

In the footage, Fayose alleged that no ethnic group betrays its own cause like the Igbos, claiming that certain influential figures from the South-East had prioritised political access over agitation for Kanu’s freedom.

Reacting in a lengthy Instagram post, Cubana Chiefpriest described Fayose’s remarks as baseless and driven by jealousy.

He defended his association with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, arguing that meaningful negotiations, including discussions around Kanu’s release, could only happen from within government circles.

According to him, it would be unrealistic for individuals positioned in opposition to successfully influence federal decisions.

The celebrity barman further questioned Fayose’s own political credentials, noting that his brother previously served two terms as governor.

He challenged the businessman to a public debate on business and economic impact, boasting about his personal achievements and financial success.

In a strongly worded statement, Chiefpriest claimed that Fayose’s entire net worth was equivalent to the value of his designer shoes, bags and wristwatches.

He emphasised that he had chosen the path of business and strategic political engagement rather than activism, stressing that he employs over 1,000 workers and could not afford to endanger their livelihoods through confrontational politics.

Drawing comparisons with leading Nigerian industrialists, Chiefpriest said aligning with the government would provide opportunities to expand his ventures and access funding for new business ideas.

The socialite has also previously declared that he would oppose former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in the 2027 general election, following his involvement with the City Boy political movement.

The exchange between the two businessmen has since generated widespread reactions on social media, with supporters divided over the intersection of business, politics and ethnic loyalty.
