Richard Tochukwu Gospel Music: Pastor highlights how divinely inspired songs can heal, restore, and transform Nigeria spiritually and socially
Senior Pastor Richard Tochukwu of Freedom Life International Christian Center has said that gospel music holds the spiritual capacity to heal, restore, and transform Nigeria, describing it as a potent instrument for national renewal.

The cleric, who also ministers as a gospel singer, spoke with journalists in Lagos, emphasising that divinely inspired music extends beyond entertainment to promote spiritual awakening and moral rebirth.
“Gospel music holds the power to heal and rejuvenate the nation. When music is inspired by God, it carries His presence and can shape hearts, influence minds and redirect a people toward righteousness,” Pastor Tochukwu said.
The pastor made the remarks while discussing his newly released worship single, I Want To Pray, produced by Audio5, describing it as a heartfelt expression of hope and perseverance inspired by Gospel of Luke 18:1.
Pastor Tochukwu said his music ministry originates from Scripture, with songs often flowing from meditation, prayer, or study of the Word.
He described his journey from drummer and singer to recognising music as a divine channel for preaching God’s Word.
“Many times, after studying or preaching from the Word, a song flows from that passage. Sometimes it comes during meditation or prayer. The major source remains the Word of God,” he explained.

The pastor stressed that every song he releases aligns with biblical truth, asserting that music remains one of the most effective tools for communicating God’s message in contemporary times.
