Gbenga Daniel made the remarks while addressing journalists during a media retreat in Lagos. The senator said the decision to rehabilitate one of the busiest arterial roads in Nigeria’s commercial capital reflects creative and responsive leadership.
The Sanwo-Olu Lekki-Epe repairs, according to Gbenga Daniel, demonstrate continuity in governance and commitment to infrastructure renewal.
He noted that effective leadership in Lagos has been sustained through deliberate planning and consistent policy direction since 1999.
Gbenga Daniel recalled that during his tenure as Ogun State governor, his administration adopted several development strategies modelled after reforms initiated in Lagos under former governor and current President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“As someone who has lived most of my life in Lagos, I can recognise a working government when I see one,” Gbenga Daniel said.
“Lagos is the flagship of development and a model for our national psyche, especially because it has benefitted from continuous visionary leadership and careful planning since 1999.”
Gbenga Daniel described the road rehabilitation as a continuation of established governance principles focused on stability and long-term growth.
He added that the intervention would ease traffic congestion and enhance economic activity along the corridor.
Beyond infrastructure, Gbenga Daniel also applauded the reintroduction of the environmental sanitation day in Lagos, describing it as another powerful initiative by the Sanwo-Olu administration and its environment ministry.

The senator expressed optimism that sustained infrastructure investment and environmental reforms would further consolidate Lagos State’s position as a benchmark for subnational governance in Nigeria.
