Prime Boy accuses Mohbad’s family in fresh protest

Prime Boy Mohbad protest in Lagos sees singer accuse Mohbad’s family of fund misuse and demand police apology over investigation

Singer Owodunni Ibrahim, popularly known as Prime Boy, has accused the family of late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad, of misusing public donations during a protest held in Lagos seeking justice over the singer’s death.

The Prime Boy Mohbad protest gained traction online after videos emerged showing Prime Boy addressing supporters and calling on both the Nigerian government and the police to act.

Mohbad died in 2023, sparking nationwide outrage and an outpouring of financial support from prominent Nigerians and members of the public for his family.

As of 2026, the late singer remains unburied, a situation that continues to generate intense public debate.

In one of the viral clips, Prime Boy alleged that members of Mohbad’s family were benefiting from donated funds while the burial had yet to take place.

“Mohbad has not been buried after three years. His family, brother and sisters are enjoying the money people donated. I suffered for this. Mohbad’s family should do the right thing. The Nigerian government should do the right thing,” Prime Boy said.

During the protest, Prime Boy also demanded a public apology from the Nigerian Police over his treatment during the investigation that followed Mohbad’s death.

Prime Boy was among several individuals interrogated by the police amid the controversy surrounding the case.

“The police should post that I am innocent and tell me sorry. I am not asking for much,” Prime Boy stated, insisting that his name be formally cleared.

Placard-carrying protesters were seen supporting calls for justice, while social media reactions reflected deep divisions among the public.

Some commentators questioned the continued delay in Mohbad’s burial, while others criticised the renewed public confrontation.

The Prime Boy Mohbad protest has once again brought the unresolved issues surrounding Mohbad’s death into sharp focus, underscoring the lingering tension between justice demands, public scrutiny and the emotional toll on those involved.

The Nigerian Police have yet to issue a fresh statement in response to Prime Boy’s remarks at the time of filing this report.
