Busola Oke suicide clarification: Gospel singer says social media live was from frustration, not intentions of self-harm

Nigerian gospel singer Busola Oke, popularly known as Eleyele, has clarified that she never intended to commit suicide despite recent reports suggesting otherwise.

Speaking on the Talk To B Podcast, Oke explained that a recent live video on social media was driven by frustration and emotional strain, rather than thoughts of self-harm.

The singer described feeling isolated and mentally exhausted, prompting her to reach out to friends and followers for support.

“No, I never said I was going to commit suicide. I was frustrated and lonely, seeking people who care about me. My intention was never to expose myself publicly,” she stated.

Oke revealed that she has faced ongoing personal challenges since 2020 but chose to remain private, avoiding pity or public sympathy. She emphasised that her live session was simply a way to connect with those who genuinely care.

“I’ve kept quiet for so long because I don’t want people treating me as a pity case or subjecting my life to charity. I wanted natural connections, not attention from my struggles,” she added.

The singer’s clarification comes amid growing concern from fans who had misinterpreted her emotional post. Oke reassured her supporters that her actions were a call for support, not an indication of intent to harm herself.
