Veteran Fuji singer Pasuma discusses Busola Oke’s career, music industry changes, and revenue sharing differences in a recent interview

Veteran Fuji singer Pasuma has shared his thoughts on the evolving nature of the music industry while addressing issues surrounding fellow artiste Busola Oke.

Speaking during an interview with Face TV Africa, Pasuma said any disagreement between Busola and Bayowa remains personal, stressing that outsiders cannot fully understand whatever agreement existed regarding revenue sharing from her songs.

According to him, the music business does not always follow a predictable path. He explained that a song may gain widespread popularity yet fail to generate significant physical sales, forcing artistes to rely heavily on live performances for income.

Pasuma also noted that revenue-sharing structures differ between juju and Fuji music, as each genre operates its own system.

Using Busola’s hit track Eleyele as an example, he said the era when that style dominated has passed, attributing the shift to changing audience preferences and fast-moving trends.

“The time she sang Eleyele has passed because people have moved on from that kind of music,” he said, adding that longevity in the industry is largely by grace.

“Anyone who was singing then and is still singing now is just by the grace of God. Things have changed,” Pasuma stated.

He expressed sympathy for Busola, describing her as someone close to him and revealing that he felt saddened after watching a video of her in tears.
