Speaking at an event hosted by the National Film and Video Censors Board, Akindele said her goal is to create films that resonate with audiences while reflecting Nigerian and African experiences.

“I’m not competing. It’s not a competition. I just want to tell African stories… Our own Nigerian stories. I want us to feel accepted, loved. I want them to watch our movies, learn, see what we go through, hear our stories directly from a Nigerian, an African. That’s all I want to do,” she explained.

Akindele added that she avoids pressuring herself and approaches her work day by day.

She hinted at new projects coming this year, asking fans to “keep their fingers crossed.”

The actress also highlighted the importance of continuous learning and constructive criticism.

“I listen to constructive criticisms; I really listen to them. I’m a good storyteller, and I want to be the best at it. I learn a lot from my competitors, from mentors out there. I watch a lot of movies, I read books, and I listen to stories to grow my craft,” she said.

Reflecting on her creative process, Akindele said inspiration often guided her to explore new narratives.

She cited her decision to move beyond A Tribe Called Judah Part Two as an example of embracing new challenges in storytelling.
