Tiwa Savage foundation empowers young African creatives, while the singer confirms she has no plans to quit music

Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has unveiled a new music foundation aimed at supporting young African creatives, while affirming she has no plans to step away from her music career.

Tiwa Savage spoke exclusively to Naija News during the foundation’s launch, highlighting the importance of structured support for emerging artists navigating the music industry.

“I went to Berklee College of Music as a scholarship student. Someone made a decision to invest in me when I didn’t have the full means to invest in myself, and that changed the entire direction of my life,” Tiwa Savage said. She added that the experience taught her the business side of the industry and how to turn talent into a sustainable career.

The singer explained that the foundation arrives at a mature stage in her career, when she has both the platform and credibility to build a lasting initiative. “Now I’m at a point where I have the platform, the relationships, and the credibility to build something real. A proper, structured, lasting initiative,” she said.

Tiwa Savage described the foundation as addressing overlooked challenges from her own journey. “People see the stages, the collaborations, the covers, the accolades, and they assume the path was straighter than it was. It wasn’t. That support mattered enormously,” she said, adding that she wants young creatives to have access to guidance and tools that can transform their careers.

When asked whether the initiative indicates a step back from music, Tiwa Savage was unequivocal. “The foundation doesn’t exist separate from my music career; it exists because of it. Every stage I’ve stood on, every record I’ve made, has led to a place where I can now do something like this with credibility and weight behind it. If anything, this makes me more committed to music, not less.”
