Chike, speaking in a recent interview on the Ada’s Room Podcast, said his mother warned him against marrying for love alone, urging him instead to prioritise value and financial stability in a partner.

The 33-year-old singer disclosed that his mother advised him never to marry a woman without a source of livelihood or one from a financially struggling background, arguing that such unions could become burdensome.

“I think everybody should look for a partner that has value,” Chike said. “My mum advised me never to settle down with a woman who doesn’t have a source of livelihood regardless of love.”

Chike added that his mother also cautioned against marrying someone with heavy family responsibilities, particularly if those obligations are not matched with productivity.

“She told me never to marry someone with the baggage of family responsibilities, especially a firstborn that is not productive,” Chike said.

The Chike Marriage Advice revelation also highlighted his personal approach to dating.

The singer explained that he often asks probing questions to understand a potential partner’s background, including whether the person comes from a stable and supportive family.

Chike further advised men to look beyond physical attraction and consider long-term compatibility when entering relationships, especially those with the potential for marriage.
