Pretty Mike reopens proxy Lagos after NDLEA raid

Pretty Mike Proxy Lagos reopening confirmed months after NDLEA raid, legal battle and court ruling allowing club to resume operations

Lagos socialite and nightclub owner Mike Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, has reopened Proxy Lagos nightclub nearly seven months after a raid by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency led to its closure and a high-profile legal battle.

Pretty Mike reopening follows months of uncertainty after the October 26, 2025 operation in Victoria Island, where NDLEA officials arrested more than 100 guests and reported the recovery of banned substances, including loud and laughing gas.

Mike Nwogu confirmed the development in an Instagram video on Tuesday, reflecting on what he described as a deeply difficult period marked by both legal challenges and personal loss.

Mike Nwogu revealed that the ordeal coincided with the death of his father, an event that profoundly affected him.

Describing the raid as a powerful storm, Mike Nwogu said the incident disrupted his business, strained his reputation and impacted his team and family.

Despite this, Mike Nwogu stated that the venue had now been cleared to resume operations, calling the club a cultural hub where Lagos nightlife thrives.

Pretty Mike Proxy Lagos reopening comes after a Federal High Court in Lagos dismissed an attempt by the NDLEA to keep the premises sealed pending an appeal.

The court ruled that the agency had not provided sufficient grounds to justify continued closure.

Authorities had previously charged Mike Nwogu and the club’s supervisor with offences including conspiracy, unlawful possession and permitting illegal drug activities on the premises.

Mike Nwogu was granted bail in the sum of N50 million.

A notable moment in Mike Nwogu’s address came as he expressed gratitude to supporters who stood by him during what he described as a season of heavy silence, signalling a cautious but determined return to public life.

The reopening is likely to reignite conversations around nightlife regulation, law enforcement oversight and the resilience of Lagos’ entertainment industry.
