Tokunbo Wahab has announced that the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office has sealed four properties for illegal wastewater discharge in Ikotun and Ajah.

The enforcement operation, carried out on Wednesday and Thursday, targeted two residential buildings located at 13, Oritola Street and 1, Temitope Street, Pipeline, Ikotun.

Authorities also shut a public toilet and a mechanic workshop along Badore Road in Ajah over similar environmental violations.

Wahab disclosed that the Ikotun properties were sealed after public complaints, repeated warnings, and confirmed investigative findings.

He said property owners had been deliberately channeling untreated wastewater through pipes onto public roads, creating a serious environmental nuisance.

The commissioner described the act as persistent and unacceptable, noting that it posed risks to public health and sanitation.

In Ajah, officials cited indiscriminate discharge of wastewater into public drains as the reason for sealing the affected premises.

Wahab issued a firm warning that the crackdown would continue across the state.

He stressed that individuals and organisations violating environmental regulations would face sanctions and possible prosecution under existing laws.

The Lagos State Government also urged residents and property managers to adopt proper wastewater management practices to protect the environment.

The action reflects a renewed and decisive push by authorities to enforce sanitation laws and curb environmental abuse across Lagos.
