President Tinubu reshuffles cabinet, appointing new finance and housing ministers in a minor Federal Executive Council adjustment

The development was confirmed in a statement on Tuesday issued by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and based on a memo signed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

The decision marks a significant adjustment within the Tinubu cabinet reshuffle, affecting two of the government’s key economic and infrastructure portfolios.

According to the memo, Taiwo Oyedele has been appointed as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

Also appointed is Dr Muttaqha Darma as Minister-designate for Housing and Urban Development, signalling a fresh leadership direction in both ministries.

The statement directed outgoing ministers to immediately commence handover processes to their successors or supervising officials.

It further stated that all handover and takeover activities must be concluded on or before the close of business on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

The reshuffle comes as the administration continues to adjust its cabinet structure in response to governance and economic priorities.
