The Wema Bank 81st anniversary rewards programme, unveiled on Saturday, signals a shift from last year’s grand celebrations towards a more customer-centric approach.
The bank announced incentives for users on the ALAT app, alongside benefits for customers tied to the launch of the fifth season of its “5 for 5” reward initiative.
Under the theme “Your Future of Possibilities, Powered by Wema Bank,” the institution also introduced a specialised customer success initiative designed to support diverse groups, including businesses, students, working-class women and creatives.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Moruf Oseni, said the strategy reflects the bank’s response to a rapidly evolving financial landscape shaped by digital innovation and emerging technologies.
“The world is rapidly evolving. Digital evolution and emerging technologies continue to present newer opportunities and realities,” Moruf Oseni said, adding that the bank aims to equip customers with tools to adapt and thrive.
Moruf Oseni described the initiative as part of a broader vision to build a smarter and more secure financial future, where banking services anticipate customer needs and provide tailored solutions.
He noted that beyond traditional banking, the institution is curating opportunities and building an ecosystem that supports long-term growth.
A notable highlight of the anniversary is the focus on practical guidance and strategic support, with programmes aimed at helping customers map out and achieve personal and business goals.
The move underscores a growing trend among financial institutions to combine services with advisory and empowerment offerings.
The Wema Bank 81st anniversary rewards initiative also serves as a gesture of appreciation to stakeholders, including customers, employees, investors and partners who have contributed to the bank’s eight-decade legacy.
Founded in 1945, Wema Bank has built a reputation for innovation, particularly with the launch of ALAT, widely regarded as Africa’s first fully digital bank.
The dual celebration reinforces its position as a key player in Nigeria’s financial sector.
