The announcement was made by Musbahu Aminu Yakasai, Director of Public Enlightenment at the State Ministry of Education, in an official statement released in Kano.

According to the directive, boarding school students are expected to commence their holiday on Saturday, 23 May 2026, and resume academic activities on Sunday, 31 May 2026.

For day school students, the break will begin earlier on Friday, 22 May 2026, with resumption scheduled for Monday, 1 June 2026, in line with the approved academic calendar.

Kano Eid school holiday schedule was issued to provide clarity for parents, guardians, and school administrators ahead of the festive period, which is widely observed across the state.

Commissioner for Education, Dr Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda, extended goodwill messages to students, teachers, and parents, describing the break as a period for peaceful celebration and family reflection.

He emphasised that the government remains committed to maintaining the integrity of the academic calendar despite the short recess, noting that the holiday will not disrupt the ongoing third term schedule.

The ministry also issued a firm reminder that all public and private schools must strictly adhere to the approved resumption dates, warning that compliance would be closely monitored to maintain discipline within the education system.

Authorities added that the structured break reflects the government’s broader effort to balance academic stability with cultural and religious observance across the state.
