Lagos drug kingpin raid sees police arrest suspect in Lagos after discovery of 425 bags of suspected cannabis and forged plates in major operation

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 Command in Lagos, Nigeria, on Sunday, 24 May 2026, arrested Eke Henry Ifeanyi, a 41-year-old suspected drug kingpin, during a Lagos drug kingpin raid that uncovered 425 bags of substances suspected to be Canadian Loud in a coordinated intelligence-led operation in the Maryland area of the state.

The Lagos drug kingpin raid was carried out following months of surveillance and intelligence supplied by a concerned citizen, according to police sources.

Officers stormed Ifeanyi’s three-bedroom apartment and warehouse located at 10 Olori Adekemi Ajibola Street, Arowojobe Estate, Mende, where they reportedly discovered a large consignment of illicit drugs believed to be worth billions of naira.

Police further recovered vehicles fitted with forged “presidency” and National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) number plates, which investigators allege were used to transport the substances discreetly across parts of Lagos without attracting attention.

The discovery has been described as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to dismantle organised drug trafficking networks operating within the state.

Authorities said the operation was swift and highly coordinated, adding that the scale of the seizure reflects the growing sophistication of criminal syndicates involved in narcotics distribution.

The arrest of Eke Henry Ifeanyi is now expected to form a central focus of further investigations aimed at identifying collaborators and supply routes linked to the operation.

Residents in the quiet Mende community expressed shock at the development, describing the raid as unexpected and intense. Security officials, however, have hailed the outcome as a decisive blow against illicit drug activity in Lagos.

The Nigeria Police Force Zone 2 Command confirmed that investigations are ongoing and assured that further updates will be communicated as the case progresses through the appropriate legal channels.
