Ogun police arrest seven suspects in separate operations targeting robbery, burglary, theft and public disorder across the state

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested seven suspects for alleged armed robbery, housebreaking, stealing, conspiracy and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace during separate intelligence-led operations across the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed the arrests in a statement issued on Friday in Abeokuta, saying the operations were carried out by officers attached to the Sango-Ota, Owode-Egba and Agbado Divisions.

According to Babaseyi, operatives of the Sango-Ota Division arrested Pelumi Akintonde, 21, Mojeed Sanusi, 28, and Mubarak Lateef, 17, in connection with an alleged armed robbery incident in the Alasia community.

He said the suspects were accused of participating in an attack on a resident during which valuables were forcefully taken.

The police spokesperson added that officers recovered a locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol and an expended cartridge from the suspects.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who remain at large, he said.

In a separate operation, operatives of the Owode-Egba Division arrested Damilare Makanjuola, 22, over an alleged housebreaking and theft case reported in Ofada.

Babaseyi said preliminary investigations linked the suspect to other burglary incidents within Sun City Estate, Ofada, where electrical appliances, cash and other valuables were reportedly stolen.

The command also arrested Tijani Jubril, 28, and Ezra Modi, 22, for alleged conspiracy and stealing at Treasure Island Estate in Awo Village.

According to the police, the duo was intercepted while attempting to dispose of electrical appliances allegedly stolen from a residential property within the estate.

The stolen items were recovered intact, while investigators found that entry into the property had allegedly been forced.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Agbado Division arrested Waris Adebesin, 22, for allegedly causing a public disturbance and threatening violence around a secondary school environment.

Babaseyi said the suspect was apprehended with a knife and that the swift intervention of officers prevented a possible breakdown of law and order in the area.

All seven suspects remain in police custody and are undergoing further investigation, according to the command.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers involved in the operations for their professionalism and prompt response.

Ojajuni also praised residents for providing timely information that contributed to the success of the arrests.

The Ogun Police Arrest Seven Suspects operation reflects the command’s continued efforts to combat crime and dismantle criminal networks across the state.

Babaseyi reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property while encouraging members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with credible information.
