Justice for Kitan Oyesiku gains momentum as friends urge Ogun authorities to intensify investigations into the former broadcaster’s killing

Friends of former Ogun State Television broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku on Tuesday renewed calls for justice following her killing, urging the Ogun State Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to uncover those responsible and ensure they face prosecution.

The appeal was made in Abeokuta, Ogun State, by the Friends of Kitan Oyesiku, a group of associates and supporters of the late broadcaster, days after Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard were found dead at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village.

The group, through a statement signed by Oluwaseun Boye, described Oyesiku as a compassionate and peaceful woman whose tragic death has left family members, friends and former colleagues in deep shock.

“Kitan was a peaceful, kind-hearted, and compassionate woman whose life was cut short in a cruel and senseless manner. She did not deserve such a painful end,” the statement said.

“Her death has left her family, friends, and everyone who knew her devastated.”

The call comes amid an ongoing investigation by the Ogun State Police Command into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

Police had launched a probe after a resident reportedly raised concerns about suspicious activities at the deceased’s residence. Detectives who visited the property were said to have discovered signs of forced entry and disturbance.

Investigators found the body of the security guard in the security post, while Oyesiku’s body was later discovered inside her apartment.

In a significant development, police also recovered Oyesiku’s Lexus RX300 vehicle, which had initially been reported missing following the incident.

While acknowledging efforts made by law enforcement authorities, the group stressed that the investigation must be pursued vigorously until those responsible are identified and prosecuted.

“We commend the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, and officers of the Ogun State Police Command for the steps taken so far in the investigation.

We appreciate their commitment and encourage them to sustain the momentum until every individual connected with this heinous crime is identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” Boye stated.

The demand for Justice for Kitan Oyesiku reflects growing public concern over violent crimes and the need for accountability in cases involving prominent members of the community.

The group urged the Ogun State Government and relevant agencies not to allow the case to fade from public attention, insisting that a thorough investigation would strengthen public confidence in the justice system.

“We respectfully appeal to the Ogun State Government and all relevant authorities not to allow Kitan’s murder to be swept under the carpet. Justice must not only be done but also be seen to be done,” the statement added.

“Bringing the perpetrators to justice will reassure the public that no life is insignificant and that criminal acts of this nature will not go unpunished.”

The friends of the late broadcaster also appealed to residents and members of the public to assist investigators by providing any information that could help unravel the circumstances surrounding the killings.

According to the group, even seemingly minor details could provide a powerful breakthrough in the ongoing investigation.

“We also renew our appeal to members of the public: if you know something, please say something. Any credible information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could be the breakthrough investigators need to ensure justice for Kitan,” Boye said.

“We remain hopeful that the truth will prevail and that those responsible for this horrific act will be brought to book.”

The case has attracted widespread attention across Ogun State, particularly among media professionals who remember Oyesiku for her years of service in broadcasting.

On Monday, the Ogun State Police Command disclosed that Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni personally visited the scene of the incident and assured residents that significant progress was being made.

According to the command, all available resources are being deployed to identify and apprehend those behind the killings.

As investigations continue, supporters, colleagues and family members remain hopeful that the pursuit of Justice for Kitan Oyesiku will provide answers to the questions surrounding her death and deliver closure to those affected by the tragedy.
