Sowore reacts to PFIPC controversy, makes fresh allegations against Gbajabiamila

Human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has reacted to the arrest of the individual linked to the controversial Progressive Foundation for Integrity and Public Confidence (PFIPC), using the development to raise concerns about accountability and public office holders in Nigeria.

Speaking in an interview with Symfoni TV, Sowore said he was not surprised by the controversy surrounding the alleged fake government agency, describing it as a reflection of broader issues within Nigeria’s political system.

During the interview, Sowore also made allegations against former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, claiming that the incident was part of a wider problem of individuals he considers unsuitable gaining influence and recognition.

Sowore alleged that Gbajabiamila was involved in a past financial dispute involving $25,000 belonging to a client in Atlanta, Georgia.

The controversial politician compared the chief of staff case with other politicians, where he mentioned similar allegations against the President and Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Sowore criticised what he described as a system that allows individuals facing serious allegations to occupy positions of influence, arguing that stronger accountability measures are needed in public life.

The activist said he stood by his remarks and challenged Gbajabiamila to seek legal action if he believed the allegations were false.

The comments followed public attention surrounding the arrest of the PFIPC boss, an incident that has renewed discussions about fraudulent organisations, impersonation of government institutions and the need for stronger regulatory oversight.

Gbajabiamila has not publicly responded to Sowore’s latest allegations at the time of reporting.

The PFIPC matter remains subject to official investigations, while Sowore’s claims regarding Gbajabiamila remain allegations.
