Popular Nigerian content creator and streamer Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, revealed on August 4, 2026, that some dollar notes sprayed during his traditional wedding ceremony in Lagos were fake, after a bank visit exposed the counterfeit currency.

The TikTok star made the revelation during an Instagram livestream with one of his American supporters, explaining that he initially believed the foreign currency gifts had significantly increased his wealth after his wedding to Elizabeth Amadou, popularly known as Jarvis.

Peller said he was excited after receiving the cash gifts and even recorded a celebratory video with the dollars before taking them to the bank.

However, the excitement quickly turned into disappointment when officials informed him that some of the notes were not genuine.

“When I got to the bank, they told me the dollars were fake. People that gave me real money, I know them if I see them. They gave me fake dollars,” Peller said.

The streamer also explained why he had stopped speaking about the dollar spraying after the wedding, saying the discovery changed his view of the money he received during the celebration.

“I got home after my wedding thinking I was a millionaire already. I used the money to make a video, saying, ‘Hello, thinking I am rich,’ but it was fake. You people did not notice I did not talk about the dollars again since last night. Is it by force to spray money?” he said.

The incident has sparked conversations online about the culture of spraying money at Nigerian celebrations, particularly at high-profile events where guests often display wealth through cash gifts.

While some social media users reacted with humour, others questioned the practice of using large amounts of cash for public displays during ceremonies.

Peller and Jarvis held their traditional wedding in Lagos, attracting entertainers, influencers and public figures. The celebration featured several viral moments, including expensive gifts and widespread social media attention.

The revelation adds an unexpected twist to the couple’s widely discussed wedding, which had earlier been praised for its glamour and star-studded guest list.

Peller’s claim about the fake notes has not independently identified the individuals who allegedly sprayed the counterfeit dollars, and no guest has publicly accepted responsibility for the incident.
