The Obasa Mourns Father-in-Law development was announced on Thursday following the death of the respected community leader, who was also the father of Chief Mrs. Bukola Taibat Obasa, the Speaker’s wife.

According to the family, High Chief Majowogbe died in the early hours of Thursday after a brief illness.

He was laid to rest the same day in accordance with Islamic rites during a solemn funeral attended by family members, community leaders, Islamic clerics and other well-wishers.

Speaker Obasa, accompanied by several members of the Lagos State House of Assembly and close associates, attended the burial to pay his final respects to the late traditional leader.

In a condolence message, the Speaker expressed sympathy to the Majowogbe family, urging them to draw strength from the impactful legacy left behind by the deceased.

Obasa described his father-in-law as a man whose life was defined by dignity, philanthropy and dedicated service to the people of Ibido-Omu and neighbouring communities.

“We take comfort in the exemplary life he lived and the many lives he touched while with us. I pray that Almighty Allah grants the deceased Al-Jannah Firdaus and gives the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the Speaker said.

High Chief Majowogbe was widely regarded as a respected traditional figure in Ibido-Omu, where he played a significant role in community affairs and local development over several decades.

His long life and service earned him admiration among residents and traditional institutions within Odogbolu Local Government Area.

His passing comes as tributes continue to pour in from political associates, community leaders and family members who have remembered his contributions to his community and his commitment to fostering peace and unity.
