BBNaija Season 11 housemates Martins Iyeh and Mercedes were evicted from the Big Brother Naija house in Lagos on Sunday, 9 August 2026, ending their two-week journeys during the second live eviction show of the Show Ya Sef season.

The double eviction brought an early end to the reality television journeys of Martins, a creative director and model from Kogi State, and Mercedes, whose real name is Ijeoma Emi, a 26-year-old entrepreneur from Delta State.

Their departures came at a particularly unpredictable stage of the competition, following changes to the nomination process and the introduction of new twists designed to increase the pressure on the housemates.

Martins entered the house as a creative director, model and visual storyteller, hoping to use the platform to showcase his personality and work to a wider audience.

At his introduction, the Kogi State native appeared relaxed about the possibility of an early exit and told viewers to judge his performance for themselves.

“I’m just here to have fun. Viewers at home too, have fun. If I’m not doing well, vote me out,” Martins said shortly after his unveiling.

His two-week stay nevertheless gave viewers an opportunity to see his confident and expressive side before his journey came to an abrupt end.

Mercedes, meanwhile, leaves the competition after an especially eventful second week.

The Delta State entrepreneur had recently won the Arena Games, a significant achievement that appeared to give her momentum in the competition.

Her subsequent eviction therefore came as an unexpected turn for a housemate who had only days earlier secured a notable victory.

Mercedes combines entrepreneurship with a range of creative interests. She works as a massage therapist, runs a concierge business and has described herself as a performance artist.

She also counts singing and pole dancing among her talents and revealed during her time in the house that she could sing opera.

Both contestants were among the 24 housemates who entered the Show Ya Sef season, which offers a ₦160 million prize package.

Their exits followed the introduction of “Conspiracy Hour” and a revised nomination format in which housemates were asked to save fellow contestants rather than simply nominate those they wanted to leave.

The changes created a more fluid and unpredictable route to eviction, leaving several housemates dependent on public support to remain in the competition.

With Martins and Mercedes now out of the running, the remaining contestants face an increasingly intense battle for survival, visibility and the ultimate prize.

For Martins, the BBNaija experience provided a national platform for his creative career. Even after his eviction, he remained optimistic about what could follow.

“I’ll surprise the world,” he said after leaving the house.

Mercedes also leaves with increased visibility for her businesses and creative interests, despite her relatively short stay.

Her Arena Games victory will remain one of the defining moments of her BBNaija journey, particularly because it came so close to her eviction.

The double departure is another reminder of the volatility of the reality show, where strong performances and growing visibility inside the house do not always translate into enough public votes to survive another week.
