Lagos State House of Assembly member and Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot, who represents Surulere Constituency I, again apologised on Sunday 13 September 2026 in Lagos to Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, over his conduct during the last All Progressives Congress primary.
A video posted by Lagos Junction on X shows Desmond Elliot on his knees, then flat on the floor in a traditional prostration, before Femi Gbajabiamila and other party figures. Femi Gbajabiamila told Desmond Elliot to get up.

“I’m sorry. I have no excuse; I have nothing other than to say I’m deeply sorry. I’m deeply sorry, sir. And in our culture, we prostrate. Don’t be angry, Daddy,” Desmond Elliot said.
He told the room he may have been misguided in the primary and pledged fresh loyalty to APC leadership in Lagos. The clip follows an earlier on-air apology on TVC’s Your View, when Desmond Elliot said any offence to his political mentor was unintentional.
“I’m not saying, oh, yes, media will come out, oh yes, Desmond begs again. Yes, because he’s my egbon. And I grew up learning everything I knew in politics through him,” he said on that programme. “To err is human, to forgive is divine. So I’m sorry, my daddy, if I’ve offended you in any way.”
The latest plea sits against the Lagos Assembly leadership fight. Femi Gbajabiamila has said President Bola Tinubu challenged him over intelligence that tied Desmond Elliot to moves around the speakership, a claim Femi Gbajabiamila denied. Senior APC figures later settled that crisis.

Whether this second apology closes the breach is a party matter. What the camera recorded is simpler: a lawmaker who calls Femi Gbajabiamila “Daddy” chose the most public form of Yoruba deference to ask for peace.
