FMN Group, Nigeria’s leading integrated food and agro-allied conglomerate, has announced the FMN Group Akbar Ali Shah Appointment in Lagos, naming seasoned FMCG executive Akbar Ali Shah as Managing Director to steer one of its key strategic business verticals.
Akbar Ali Shah, who confirmed the development in a personal statement, described the appointment as a new chapter in his professional journey, while expressing appreciation to the company’s Chairman and Board for the opportunity to contribute to the Group’s long-term ambitions.

He said he was eager to work closely with the FMN team to strengthen operations and support the company’s continued expansion across Nigeria’s food and agribusiness landscape.
Shah brings over 20 years of experience in the fast-moving consumer goods sector, with a strong track record at Reckitt, where he served as General Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa and later as Chief Executive Officer of Reckitt Nigeria.
In those roles, he oversaw operations spanning multiple markets, including Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
His appointment is widely viewed as a strategic move aimed at reinforcing FMN’s operational depth in grain milling, food processing and agricultural value chain integration, areas considered central to the Group’s next phase of growth.
Founded in 1960 and headquartered in Lagos, FMN Group has evolved into one of Africa’s most diversified agribusiness powerhouses, with operations covering food production, sugar refining, agro-allied processing, feed milling and logistics infrastructure.
The Group currently employs more than 12,000 people and operates one of the largest feed mills in Sub-Saharan Africa, positioning it as a major player in global flour and food supply chains.
FMN has consistently pursued vertical integration, expanding across ports, packaging and distribution networks to strengthen efficiency and local production capacity.
Industry watchers say Shah’s arrival comes at a critical moment for Nigeria’s food sector, which is under increasing pressure to boost domestic production, reduce import dependence and improve supply chain resilience amid rising consumer demand.
In his statement, Akbar Ali Shah noted his readiness to contribute to FMN’s strategic vision, signalling a focus on operational excellence and long-term value creation across its subsidiaries.
