As Nigeria’s skyline continues to expand, a quieter demand is growing alongside it: how to keep commercial, industrial and residential buildings comfortable without unnecessarily increasing the cost of running them.

That challenge is putting greater attention on cooling and climate-control systems as construction and industrial activity gather pace across the country.

At The Big 5 Construct Nigeria 2026 in Lagos, JMG Limited, through its Clima division, and Trane Technologies are highlighting the growing demand for cooling systems that combine reliable performance with greater energy efficiency.

JMG Limited is the official distributor of Trane air-conditioning solutions in Nigeria, supplying systems for residential, commercial and industrial projects.

Vineeth Vijayan, Sales Leader, Nigeria and Ghana, Trane Air Conditioning, said the expanding construction market was creating fresh demand for specialised cooling solutions.

“Buildings are going up, left, right and centre, and these buildings require cooling, specialised kinds of cooling and commercial cooling,” Vijayan said.

He noted that Trane provides solutions designed to meet different cooling requirements across the market.

For Idoko Jonahs Adejoh, Business Development Manager, HVAC, JMG Limited, the conversation goes beyond simply installing air-conditioning equipment. He said developers and businesses also need to consider the long-term cost of operating their systems.

“JMG Clima has partnered with Trane Technologies to provide heating, ventilation and cooling systems to Nigeria, not just cooling systems, but cooling systems that are energy efficient,” Adejoh said.

He acknowledged that energy-efficient systems can require a higher initial investment, but said the long-term reduction in energy consumption could provide better value.

“The initial investment into this might be a bit high, but in the long run, it cuts down on your energy consumption, giving you good value for your investment,” he said.

The issue is particularly important for businesses, where electricity and facility. Vijayan said customers benefit from assistance throughout the ownership and maintenance of their cooling-management costs can significantly affect operating expenses.

Beyond the initial sale, JMG and Trane are also placing emphasis on after-sales support. Vijayan said customers benefit from assistance throughout the ownership and maintenance of their cooling systems.

“Customers are benefiting not really only on the sales aspect, but also on the after-sales aspect,” he said.

The partnership comes at a time when Nigeria’s construction sector is producing increasingly complex buildings that require more sophisticated mechanical and climate-control systems Energy consumption, maintenance requirements, reliability and the overall operating cost of a facility can all become important considerations over the lifespan for cooler buildings.

As Nigeria continues to build, the efficiency with which those buildings operate is becoming an increasingly important part of.

For developers, the choice of HVAC technology can therefore influence more than indoor comfort.

Energy consumption, maintenance requirements, reliability and the overall operating cost of a facility can all become important considerations over the lifespan of an installation.

The message emerging from The Big 5 Construct Nigeria 2026 is consequently broader than the need for cooler buildings.

As Nigeria continues to build, the efficiency with which those buildings operate is becoming an increasingly important part of the conversation.

For JMG and Trane, that means positioning smarter cooling and energy-efficient HVAC systems as part of the infrastructure needed to support Nigeria’s next phase of development.
