Former supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and African Democratic Congress in Ogun State, under the Yayi Ni Wura Alliance Movement, announced in Abeokuta on Thursday, 24 September 2026, that they were mobilising across the state with a target of 100,000 votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and All Progressives Congress governorship candidate Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, in the 2027 elections.
The group made the announcement during a press conference at Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta, where its Director of Media and Publicity, Wasiu Adejumo, popularly known as Westo, said members had previously supported different political parties before joining the movement.

Adejumo said the alliance included people who had previously identified with the APC, PDP and ADC.
“We were initially on the side of the opposition party. Some of us are from APC, some of us are from PDP, and some of us are from ADC,” Adejumo said.
He said the group had decided to support Tinubu’s bid for another term and Adeola’s campaign for governor of Ogun State.
“Our target is to mobilise at least 100,000 votes to successfully ensure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu,” Adejumo said, adding that the group also wanted Adeola elected as governor.
The movement’s announcement comes as political organisations across Ogun State step up grassroots activity ahead of the 2027 elections.
The APC in Ogun endorsed Tinubu for a second presidential term in April and selected Adeola as its consensus governorship candidate. Adeola represents Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
Governor Dapo Abiodun subsequently presented Adeola to APC stakeholders in Ogun West, where the governor said backing a candidate from the senatorial district was intended to address the fact that Ogun West had not produced a governor since the state’s creation in 1976.
Adeola’s emergence has therefore become a central element of the APC’s 2027 strategy in the state.
The senator was later formally unveiled as the party’s governorship candidate following its statewide primary process.
The Yayi Ni Wura Alliance says its own mobilisation will extend beyond existing APC structures.
State coordinator Akeem Shodiya said the organisation was open to supporters from other political platforms who were willing to join its mobilisation effort.
“We have made our decision. We have chosen our direction. We are open to all, and we want everyone to support this movement,” Shodiya said.
He said the alliance planned to use grassroots engagement and community-based activities to build support across Ogun’s 20 local government areas.
The group’s 100,000-vote figure is a mobilisation target announced by the organisation, rather than an independently verified projection of votes that Tinubu or Adeola will receive.
The distinction is significant as Nigeria’s 2027 presidential and governorship contests involve multiple candidates and political platforms.
A mobilisation target set by a support organisation does not establish the eventual electoral result.
The movement also criticised opposition figures, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, while presenting its support for the APC candidates.
The comments come as the wider opposition landscape continues to evolve ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Atiku and Obi have been associated with opposition efforts challenging the APC, while political alignments and candidate structures continue to develop ahead of polling.
Tinubu has already secured the APC’s presidential nomination for 2027. The State House published his acceptance speech after his nomination as the party’s presidential flagbearer in May.
For Ogun APC, the governorship race has an additional regional dimension because Adeola is seeking to become the first governor of the state from Ogun West since the state’s creation.

The Yayi Ni Wura Alliance says its mobilisation is intended to complement those existing political structures by bringing together supporters with different political backgrounds.
Its leadership said the organisation would continue reaching communities across Ogun as the 2027 election cycle progresses.
The alliance’s stated objective of 100,000 votes now places its grassroots campaign among the growing support groups seeking to demonstrate organisational strength ahead of the elections.
Whether that target translates into actual votes will ultimately depend on voter participation, candidate support and the choices made by voters on election day.

For now, the announcement adds another layer to the increasingly active political landscape in Ogun State, where the APC has already settled on Adeola for the governorship contest and endorsed Tinubu for another presidential bid.
