Residents in parts of Suleja and surrounding areas are set to experience a planned 20-minute power interruption on Saturday, September 26, 2026, as the Transmission Company of Nigeria carries out preventive maintenance on transmission equipment.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria said the Abuja power outage will affect customers of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company in Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and neighbouring communities.

The maintenance exercise is scheduled between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., although TCN said the actual interruption is expected to last only about 20 minutes.
The exercise involves maintenance of the Gwarinpa-Suleja 132/33kV Line 2 bay switchgear and associated equipment.
According to TCN, the temporary interruption is required to transfer electricity load from Gwarinpa-Suleja Line 2 to Kubwa-Suleja Line 1.
The transfer is intended to create the conditions needed for engineers to carry out the maintenance safely and efficiently without subjecting affected communities to a prolonged outage.
TCN said the work forms part of its annual preventive maintenance programme, which is designed to support the reliability and stability of the national transmission network.
The company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected locations for the inconvenience associated with the planned interruption.
The maintenance comes as transmission infrastructure across the country continues to require routine servicing to reduce the risk of equipment failures and unplanned outages.
For residents and businesses in the affected areas, the brief interruption is expected to be limited to the period required to complete the load transfer, after which normal supply arrangements should resume.

TCN urged consumers to take note of the scheduled exercise as the company carries out the maintenance work on Saturday.
