A 29-year-old Nigerian sales executive has died after a tree fell on his car while he was driving along a road in the United Kingdom during Storm Boelo.
James Abiwon was driving along Dollis Road in Mill Hill, north London, when the tree came down in high winds at around 12.30pm on Sunday.
Police officers, paramedics, firefighters and an air ambulance were called to the scene, but he was pronounced dead at the location.
His next of kin have been informed, and police are working with the local authority and coroner to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
Abiwon’s cousin, Tyrrell Okolo, described him as a “master of everything.”
“He loved his family, he was a massive family man. He was ‘Business Development Representative of the Year’ at his company. He was a semi-pro footballer with Aldershot. He also had a music career with 40,000 viewers on YouTube. He was a mentor to many,” Okolo said.
Abiwon, a tech sales executive who graduated from the University of Essex, had been preparing to celebrate his 30th birthday. He had planned to mark the milestone with a padel tournament, which will now take place in his memory with proceeds going towards his family.
