The former governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has never declared for any senatorial race, a reliable source told Freelanews.

In what looked like a rebuttal to the rumour making the rounds in the last few days linking the former governor as an interested aspirant to the now vacant Lagos East Senatorial ticket has been formally dismissed as not only fake but laughable.

Recall that after the death of Bayo Osinowo, the former senator representing the senatorial district, there have been lobbying to replace him at the national assembly.

According to our insider source who pleaded anonymity, the former governor nurses no plan nor desire whatsoever towards running as a senator let alone replacing anybody.

The source added that having served Lagos state meritoriously for four years as governor with his landmark projects dotting the Lagos infrastructural landscape, Ambode has chosen to remain in the background to serve humanity.
