‘Incomplete transaction’ More headaches for Miriam Olusanya as customer calls out GTBank over missing N95k

Racheal Olaleye, a nurse based in Osun State, has narrated how N95,000 went missing from her account after her debit card got stuck in a Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) ATM at Uniosun Teaching Hospital.

Racheal said she initiated a transaction with her debit card around 8:30 pm on April 26, but due to poor network, her card was stuck and she couldn’t complete the transaction.

Olaleye left the premises as it was late in the evening, but she informed one of the security personnel about the development and he asked her to return the next day to reclaim her debit card as some of the bank officials would be around to load the ATM.

“The following morning, April 27, I went back to the same place and I met a GTBank official whom I would later know as Mr. Matthew,” she said.

“I explained my plight, but he told me he couldn’t give me the card because he was with his superior and that I would have to visit the banking hall to get my card.

“I told him there was no way I would be able to visit the banking hall because I close from work almost the same time the bank closes. Then he suggested that he would either bring the card himself or give it to the security personnel I spoke with.

“On April 28, I called the security personnel to inquire if Mr. Matthew had given him my debit card, he said he hasn’t because Mr. Matthew insisted that he won’t release it in absentia. I didn’t protest because it was a seemingly wise decision.”

“Unfortunately, my salary was paid into the account that same day. Prior to this, I had transferred all I had in the GTB account to a different account after the card got stuck.

“I only sent N5,000 to someone from my salary. Minutes after the initial transaction I initiated, I got a debit alert that N51,000 had been deducted from my account, followed by N20,000, another N20,000, and a N1,800 withdrawal.”

It won’t be the first time customers are complaining about these unauthorised deductions under Miriam Olusanya led administration as one begins to wonder if the new boss at GTBank knows her onions.
