Charles Oputa, a self acclaimed human right activist popularly known as Charly Boy, may have incurred the wrath of many Nigerianson Twitter when he alleged that Simon Ekpa, the de facto leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, is working for the All Progressives Congress, APC.

He made this revelation when he claimed that Ekpa’s athletic career was sponsored by late Deji Tinubu.

In his statement contained in a post via his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday, Charly Boy said Ekpa works for APC and that he is being used to destabilize the Southeast.

He further revealed that the Finish-based Nigerian represented Lagos State in athletic competition.

What Charly Boy wrote

He wrote, “Do you know the rascal Simon Ekpa wey dey lead a fraction of IPOB?

“Do you know he has very strong connection with APC?

“Do you know that it was the late Deji Tinubu that sponsored Simon Ekpa’s athletic career and sent him abroad?

*Do you know that Simon represented Lagos State? Dis na ur 2+2.

“Simon Ekpa works for APC, used to destabilize the Southeast.

“What APC cannot do does not exist. Master planners and Riggers of all times,” he ranted.

For clarity, late Deji Tinubu was a nephew to the Nigerian president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and until his death in 2018, he was the special adviser to the former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on commerce and industry.

A lover of sports, late Deji served as chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission before he was elected as a member of the NFF executive committee in 2010. He served as chairman of the marketing and sponsorship committee under the Aminu Maigari administration from 2010-2014.

Twitter responded to Charly Boy

Many Nigerians trooped to his tweet with divergent opinions. While some were hailing for his uncommon talent in revealing hidden facts, many slammed him for his indiscretions and his ability to often utter ‘irresponsible’ statements beneath his age.

@Kaypling wrote: So now that you uncovered he’s APC, just ignore him. Is it APC also going to individual houses to tell them to sit at home? Even if an opposition sponsors instability, why comply?

@cbngov_akin1: A f001 at 70

@smartakukoma: We already know all these fact I never for one day trust anything that has to do with him, his pride is on another level. Obidients follow me I’ll follow back ASAP

@JohnpaulID: It makes one sad to learn that this daddy is above 70yrs old.

@OgundareSikiru3: He orders sit at home every Monday in East and you obeyed him, praise him as your lord. Your mumu never do fada

One Balogun Jamih (@Balogun_Jamih) went a step further and accompanied his comment with a photo. He wrote: Mr Charlie, who were you working for here sir?

@bunmola2010: I hope you realise that you are not too big or too influential to be sued for libel. What you are insinuating is that Deji Tinubu is the sponsor of Simon Ekpa/Ipob a terrorist organization.I earnestly hope and pray Deji Tinubu’s people see this and take appropriate legal action

@Kolaqhazim: Simon Ekpa is working for APC
Sowore is working for APC
Yakubu is working for APC
CJN is working for APC
The Akwa Ibom airplane passenger is working for APC
The Eze in Lagos is working for APC
INEC is working for APC
This APC must be a miracle worker
I enjoin all, to work 4 APC

A handle @HakeemOyato1 took his time to lecture the septuagenarian about how to talk about the dead. He wrote:

Deji Tinubu did no wrong by sponsoring a talented athlete abroad but trying to rubbish his legacy is unacceptable. He was a generous and kind man when he was alive. Stop this nonsense all in the name of politics. May DT soul continue to Rest In Peace. 🙏🏻

Engr. Awodola-peters Akinwale with the handle @pikoloewa reminded Charly Boy that Pat Utomi was also an associate of Tinubu at some point.

“Even Pat Utomi has strong connection with APC, as a matter of fact he was a member, he ran to pick the Party’s ticket. He also had been seen frolicking with @officialABAT consistently,” he wrote.

Many others wondered how an act of offering help automatically makes one an accomplice in a crime committed by a beneficiary just as Sir Oluwole-Acumen (@OluwoleAcumen) reasoned.

How has rendering help to someone made them an accomplice to the person’s crime? This should rather affirm the benevolence spirit of the Tinubu family rather than the other way. They helped regardless of ethnicity which to me is fantastic.

Let’s have your own opinions in the comment section.
