[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he family of the late owner of De’kulture Hotel And Suites in Ikorodu, Christiana Onikosi, is beginning to question the events surrounding her death and is demanding for a post mortem examination to be carried out to ascertain the real cause of her death.

The agile and lively enterprising owner of the largest human hair (weaveons, wigs, attachments, e.t.c) retail outlet in Ikorodu, situated precisely on Alhaji Street, has been reported to have died mysteriously.

Digging a little into the background of Christie, as her family members fondly called her, the late wife of Alhaji Layi Onikosi, was once married to late Owolabi Taiwo.

According to a source, who spoke exclusively to Freelanews, the late Christie and Taiwo jointly built the prestigious and flourishing De’kulture Hotel And Suites during a childless marriage, which the late woman later wholly inherited after her late husband’s death.

She moved on to Alhaji Onikosi with her wealth about seven to eight years ago and on the April 14, 2023, Christie gave birth to a baby boy through In vitro fertilization (IVF). And according to tradition, the baby was named on the 21st of April.

However, things took a sad turn when the late entrepreneur started complaining of extreme stomach ache on Sunday, April 23. And she was quickly rushed to the General Hospital in Ikorodu the following morning, Monday, April 24.

Due to an alleged complication, the late Christie was referred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH on the 26th of April.

“Though the family was informed that there was no space when they got there, few minutes later, Christie was attended to and she was visibly responding to treatment,” the source revealed.

It was alleged that the husband, Alhaji Onikoyi, suddenly decided that his wife should be removed from LASUTH as he was not comfortable with the treatment she was getting.

According to a family member, Dr. Egbonwon, the husband was advised not to do such a thing as the professional doctors at LASUTH would be in the best position to suggest such.

“He told me that he was moving his wife to Duchess International Hospital, but I told him that there was no need since his wife was responding to treatment. But when he was getting agitated and insistence, we agreed that I would go and make proper arrangement at his preferred hospital and ensure they are well prepared to receive her before we contemplate moving her. He agreed,” the doctor, who happened to be the wife of the deceased’s brother, said.

It was shocking to Dr. Egbonwon to find Alhaji Onikoyi at Duchess International Hospital, when she got there on her fact finding mission.

“Unknown to me, immediately I left LASUTH and headed towards Duchess, the husband had voluntarily discharged his wife and drove her down to Duchess in an ambulance.

“Infact, the woman had been dead before he got her there because I met the medical practitioners trying to resuscitate her,” she narrated.

The family members, who insisted that the death of Christie Onikoyi wasn’t natural, claimed that she must have died in the early hours of April 27, between the trip from LASUTH and Duchess International Hospital.

Duchess International Hospital and LASUTH is just 1.9 km apart, which is approximately a five minute journey.

“She was responding to treatment at LASUTH when we went to check out Duchess at the insistence of the husband, so how come the husband brought her in dead few minutes later to Duchess, without any authorisation?” the family is asking.

The family is insisting on proper closure through an autopsy.
