The Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has ordered for the probe of the governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, and the All Progressives Congress in the state over vote buying allegation.
Recall that the People’s Democratic Party and its governorship candidate in the last election in the state, Ladi Adebutu, petitioned the police chief over vote buying, snatching and destruction of ballot boxes, thuggery and gun running.

In the petition against Abiodun, the state chairman of APC, Yemi Sanusi and the party, the PDP also alleged violence and attempted murder of voters and its supporters in order to tilt the election result in favour of the governor.
In a response seen by Freelanews and signed by the principal staff officer to the IG, CSP Idris Abdullahi Abubakar, the police boss directed the State Commissioner of Police, CP Oladimeji Yomi Olanrewaju, to probe the veracity of the claims.
Abiodun won the chance to rule the Gateway state again after a highly contested election, where he managed to lead the first runner-up by a meagre 13,000 votes. While the governor scored 276,298 votes as the ruling APC’s candidate, Adebutu scored 262,383 votes.
