…As Cases Rise To 19

Olowu of Kuta, His Royal Highness Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, Tegbosun III, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari, the Presidential Task Force and Corporate Oragnisations as well as well meaning individuals to assist the Osun State Government to fight the scourge of the coronavirus pandemic as the cases rise to 19 in the state.

Olowu in a statement issued by his media office in Kuta on Tuesday said the time has come for wealthy individuals to lend a helping hand to Osun in order to save the state of the COVID-19 starring her in the face.

He said, “I want to urge President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently direct the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to assist us here in Osun. I also want corporate organisations and well meaning individuals to assist our state to fight this dreaded pandemic. There is no way we can cope with the magnitude of the problem at hand now without the support of the federal government given the financial status of the state before the pandemic. With the additional 14 cases today making a total of 19, we need urgent financial assistance to curtail and prevent the further spread of COVID-19 in our state before it’s too late.”

It will be recalled that the governor of the state, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola has raised an alarm yesterday that the federal government should come to Osun’s aid after three out of the 24 people returning from African countries tested positive for Coronavirus.

Oyetola had predicted that if three out of 23 tested positive, it then meant that by the time the remaining 103 were tested, more people are likely to be positive.

He, however followed up immediately with the setting up of 21 man committee led by Chief Tunde Badmus to work out the modality to stem the rise in the cases of Coronavirus in the state.

Other members are former governors; Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Ogbeni Rauf Arebesola, former deputy governor, Senator Iyiola Omisore, RCCG general overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Chief Deji Adeleke, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi and Gen Alani Akinrinade amongst others.

The monarch commended Governor Gboyega Oyetola for his quick response despite the lean resources of the state.
