Abia Tricycle Truck Accident leaves two dead after a speeding truck crushed a tricycle along Umuahia-Uzuakoli Road in a tragic crash

The crash occurred at the popular ‘Sign Board’ junction near Ubani Market, where eyewitnesses said the truck was moving at high speed before the collision that instantly claimed the lives of both occupants.

An eyewitness, identified as Uche, said the impact of the crash forcefully pushed the tricycle under the truck, leaving the victims trapped and killed on the spot.

According to the witness, the truck driver fled the scene immediately after realizing the severity of the accident.

The Abia Tricycle Truck Accident adds to a troubling pattern in the area, as residents report that at least three similar crashes have occurred at the same location in 2025, resulting in multiple fatalities.

Confirming the incident, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Abia State Command, Ngozi Ezeoma, described the crash as tragic and avoidable, urging motorists to exercise caution.

She reiterated the need for strict adherence to road safety regulations, warning that reckless driving continues to endanger lives across the state’s highways.

The accident has renewed concerns over safety at the Ubani Market axis, with residents calling for urgent traffic control measures to prevent further loss of life at the notorious junction.
